Introduction and Data Controller
RolesTab is an Electron desktop browser for running isolated user-role sessions. It is maintained by Usenmfon.
This policy explains what the desktop application stores on your device, what optional pseudonymous analytics may collect if you choose to enable it, and what information RolesTab is designed not to collect.
For the purposes of this policy, Usenmfon is the data controller for RolesTab information that is collected or processed by RolesTab-controlled services. Data handled by third-party websites, extensions, GitHub, or hosting providers is governed by those services' own terms and privacy policies.
Information Stored on Your Device
RolesTab is designed around local desktop storage. The app may store projects and role profiles, project and role URLs, open and recent tabs, application settings, installed extension configuration, cookies, cache, and site storage within isolated browser sessions.
Browser session data remains on your device unless a third-party website or extension transmits it. RolesTab role sessions are isolated from each other so cookies, cache, and site storage for one role are not shared with another role.
Optional Pseudonymous Analytics
Analytics is off by default. You may explicitly select Share analytics, decline with Not now, and change the choice later under Settings -> Privacy. Consent is not required to use RolesTab.
When analytics is enabled, RolesTab may send a random installation UUID, random session UUID, installation and event timestamps, app version, operating-system platform, device architecture, distribution channel, locale and timezone, app and session lifecycle events, generic tab types and tab lifetimes, allowlisted feature usage, previous and current versions during updates, and fixed application error codes.
These analytics are pseudonymous because events may be linked to a random installation identifier. They are not described as anonymous.
Information RolesTab Does Not Collect
RolesTab analytics must never include hostnames or browsing destinations, full URLs, paths, queries, fragments, page titles, page content, role IDs, role names, extension IDs, extension names, extension paths, extension configuration, cookies, site storage, account credentials, authentication tokens, error messages, component names, stack traces, files, or clipboard contents.
Legacy hostname, role, and extension analytics events are discarded by the client privacy behavior described in this policy.
Purpose and Legal Basis
Local desktop data is stored to provide the core product: project setup, isolated role browsing, session persistence, tab restoration, settings, and extension behavior.
Optional pseudonymous analytics is used only to understand app health, feature usage, version adoption, update behavior, and fixed error categories. Where consent is required, RolesTab relies on your opt-in consent. Where legitimate interests apply, the interest is maintaining and improving the app while limiting analytics to allowlisted, non-browsing data.
Retention
Local desktop data remains on your device until you change settings, clear role sessions, delete projects or roles, uninstall the application, or remove the relevant local application data.
Unsent analytics events are retained locally for at most seven days.
Server-side analytics retention has not been verified in the public website or desktop application repositories. A specific server retention period must be documented before relying on server-side analytics claims in this policy.
Source IP Addresses and Server Logs
The public repositories reviewed for this policy do not document whether the optional analytics API logs, anonymizes, or removes source IP addresses.
The server logging behavior for the optional analytics API, including log retention, access, and deletion procedures, must be verified before publication of server-side claims.
Extensions and Third-Party Websites
RolesTab can load third-party websites inside isolated sessions. Those websites may collect information directly from you or from your browsing session according to their own privacy practices.
Installed extensions may also access or transmit data depending on their permissions and behavior. RolesTab does not control third-party extension privacy practices.
Application Updates and GitHub
RolesTab installers and updates are published through GitHub Releases. The application and website may link to GitHub for downloads, release notes, source code, issues, and changelog information.
When you visit GitHub or download release assets from GitHub, GitHub may process information such as request metadata under GitHub's own privacy policy.
Service Providers and International Processing
The RolesTab website is documented as a Vercel-hosted Next.js project, and public installers are distributed through GitHub Releases.
The hosting provider, subprocessors, countries or regions of processing, access controls, backups, and deletion procedures for the optional analytics API have not been verified in the public repositories reviewed for this policy.
Security
RolesTab limits analytics to allowlisted pseudonymous events and keeps browsing session data local unless a third-party website or extension transmits it.
No software or network service can be guaranteed secure. Keep RolesTab updated, install extensions only from sources you trust, and avoid sharing sensitive diagnostic information in public forums.
User Choices and Rights
You can use RolesTab without enabling analytics. You can change analytics preferences under Settings -> Privacy, clear role sessions, delete roles or projects, and remove local application data from your device.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, objection, restriction, portability, or withdrawal of consent for personal data processed by RolesTab-controlled services. You can send privacy requests privately to rolestab.browser@gmail.com.
Analytics Withdrawal and Deletion Requests
Turning analytics off stops new collection, aborts active analytics requests where possible, deletes the local analytics queue, replaces the pseudonymous installation ID, and discards legacy hostname, role, and extension analytics events.
Deletion requests for already-sent analytics require you to privately submit the relevant installation ID. Send deletion requests to rolestab.browser@gmail.com. Do not post installation IDs, logs, or personal information in public GitHub issues.
Children's Privacy
RolesTab is a developer tool and is not directed to children. RolesTab should not be used to knowingly send children's personal information through optional analytics.
Policy Changes
This policy may be updated as RolesTab changes, including when optional analytics infrastructure, retention, server logging, subprocessors, deletion procedures, or contact channels are verified. The effective date and last updated date will be revised when material changes are made.
Contact Information
For privacy questions, requests, or analytics deletion requests, email rolestab.browser@gmail.com.
Do not submit installation IDs, logs, credentials, URLs, or personal information through public GitHub issues. Use the private email contact for information related to your installation or privacy request.
